It was 1959, when a miner gave the last blow of a pickaxe in the heart of the mountain of "de Fundu 'Corongiu. Since then, everything stopped. All the equipment was dismantled and sold. They were sadly left to themselves, only the service buildings, galleries and the impressive building of the mine "San Sebastian".
Today the buildings and structures located in the locality of "de Fundu 'Corongiu," and "Sa Canna" is now largely in ruins. However, some of them, like the powder, the electrical room, the tunnel entrances and some other structure can be restored.
Although in serious decline, is recoverable under the mine the large complex of "San Sebastian", with its associated structures: dam, basins, station of the cableway and the silo structure for the next shipment of material the railroad. This majestic building dates back to 1916, could be restored and converted into a prestigious multipurpose facility, with museum spaces, accommodation, conference and partially hotel. All this in a context represented by the adjacent structures and also recovered fully immersed in the lush vegetation of the area. Today this place, just two kilometers from the town of Seui, is easily accessible by a paved road and the railway line, now famous for its "Green Train".
Everything is possible!
There are several forms of financing for such projects, most of these are European Union funds. The number of activities of its kind in Italy and other European countries and the world have been carried out, giving unimaginable results from all points of view: economic, cultural and social. Constitute a source of pride not only in the recovery of these structures that constitute the memory of these communities, but a successful system of economic development for the communities themselves, creating many jobs, directly and in related activities. Today, even via the Internet is easy to discover these "successes". A suggestion: Let us imitate them by applying our mine the ideas and experiences that are the basis of their successes.
